FAQ

What is your minimum buy quantity?

Although ScrapZone™ does not have a formal minimum buy requirement, all scrap purchases are done on the basis of FIS (Free in store) delivery to our facility in Melbourne, Bulleen. This means its your responsibility to ensure all transport costs are covered balanced against any financial returns.

How should I package or prepare my eScrap?

Our preferred method of accepting eScrap is via FIBC (Bulka bags - 4 Hook) typically 900mm x 900mm x 1200mm in size rated with a safe working load of between 1000 - 1500kgs. Bulka bags can be placed on pallets but will not be returned.

Smaller eScrap commodities such as CPU's and RAM can be delivered in cardboard boxes but must be delivered individually graded. If a different grade is delivered, please use a separate box.

Mixed deliveries of eScrap commodities are accepted on the basis that each box or bulka bag contains only a single grade of eScrap. We reserve the right to downgrade the entire delivery by 50% if contamination is found.

How long does it take to get paid?

From time of receipt and delivery, you can expect payment typically within 7 - 14days. Please note that we do not keep cash on premises and payment is via EFT only. A drivers licence or valid ABN is required to trade with ScrapZone™

Are you a licensed dealer?

Yes, we certainly are. For absolute complete peace of mind, SCRAPZONE™ is a licensed second hands goods dealer.

We have been police checked, identity verified and approved to trade in computers, copper, gold and commodities associated with the recycling of computers and electronics.

.

Can I cut cords or cables off?

No, all eScrap commodities such as power packs, mice, keyboards and power supplies are purchased on the basis that all cables, connectors and cords remain attached. We reserve the right to downgrade the entire delivery by 50% if cables are cut.

Can I cut the gold fingers off boards?

No, all pricing for RAM and finger adapter cards such as video cards, sound cards and network cards are based on the gold fingers remaining intact. We reserve the right to downgrade the entire delivery by 50% if gold fingers are cut.

Do I need to remove batteries from boards?

Yes, for safety reasons during transport and storage all batteries must be removed. We reserve the right to downgrade the entire delivery by 50% if batteries are found.

Do I need to remove the metal riser bracket from finger cards?

No, the metal riser bracket that fastens to finger cards can remain intact.

Who runs ScrapZone™?

ScrapZone™ is run by Marco Ferlaino which is a division of 1800RECYCLE™.

ScrapZone™ is the commodity buying department of 1800RECYCLE™ dealing directly with recycling companies, scrap yards and domestic customers across Australia.

.

How do I prepare motherboards?

Motherboards from servers, desktops, networking and communication equipment must be completely free of batteries and excess metals such as blanking plates and CPU support brackets.

Any heat sinks greater than 50mm x 50mm found on motherboards must be removed. We reserve the right to downgrade the entire delivery by 50% if excess ferrous and non ferrous metals are found.

What can I expect when delivering eScrap?

You are required to book a delivery 24hrs prior outlining your eScrap and quantities. Upon arriving, we will forklift any pallets off your vehicle into our loading dock and issue you with a receipt of delivery. Once we unload your eScrap into our sorting area we will confirm the grading and pay accordingly from our trade approved weighing instruments.

Please note that we will not engage in lifting any cardboard boxes from your vehicle. Pallets for storage of individual boxes will be available to use upon arrival. Please be adequately prepared to unload your delivery directly onto waiting pallets if your delivery is a mixed load not on pallets.

How do I dispute a final weight?

We use extremely accurate Wedderburn trade approved scales using only the finest delineations appropriate for each load.

As an example, loads up to 15kg will be accurate to within 5g and loads up to 150kg accurate to within 50g and so forth.

The quality, quantity and final pay out figure is determined by us and are final.
